Psalm 68

Psalm 68 Commentary

by Brad Boyles

There is something to be said about the joy of the Lord being our daily strength. Our God is an untamed, impassioned husband whose love is fierce, boundless with delight over his bride. Our God is a father to the fatherless, relentless in His pursuit to embrace those discarded by this cruel and unforgiving world. He is eager to see us embrace Him with trust and hope knowing that He is diligent in making all things new.

These thoughts should lead us to worship and thankfulness.

But let the righteous be glad; let them exult before God; Yes, let them rejoice with gladness.  4  Sing to God, sing praises to His name; Lift up a song for Him who rides through the deserts, Whose name is the LORD, and exult before Him.

Psalms 68:3-4 NASB

Thank you for this day. Thank you for health. Thank you for your provision and the ability to buy and eat food. Thank you for a warm house and reliable transportation. Thank you for family. Thank you for your grace, mercy, and patience when we are stubborn and fail. Thank you for always being in control of all circumstances and for confirming this in our hearts and minds with Your great power. Thank you for not allowing us to stay the same but challenging us every day.

Thank you for conforming me to be more like your Son. Thank you for delivering us from temptation. Thank you for supplying our needs. Thank you for Your protection. Thank you for our church body. Thank you for answered prayer. Thank you for stirring our hearts for more of your wisdom and knowledge. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for your immense sacrifice at the cross. Thank you for grace.

Let the righteous be glad! Let them exult before God! Take a moment from your circumstances right now to rejoice in the Lord. What are you thankful for today?
