Ezekiel 44 Commentary
by Brad Boyles
“They shall enter My sanctuary; they shall come near to My table to minister to Me and keep My charge.’
Ezekiel 44:16 NASB
We must understand that every true believer is a saint and a priest to God. Scripture clearly states this.
you also, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
1 Peter 2:5 NASB
And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ;
Ephesians 4:11-12 NASB
The context in Ezekiel 44 is dealing with the sons of Zadok but we know that as ministers of the Gospel we too are charged to come near to the Lord and keep His commands. Though we serve out of our love for Jesus and His saving grace, our first order of service was directed by God Himself as He invited us to come near to His table.
The beauty of the table analogy is that through Jesus we are finally afforded the opportunity to do exactly that. We have a seat at God’s table. So, there are no excuses for believers who do not prioritize their life with God at the forefront! It has been clear both in the OT and NT that His desire for us is to enter into His presence, minister, and keep His commands.
